The day after two stops in Greater Cincinnati, Vice President JD Vance visited a Waffle House near Eastgate Mall with his family.
The Middletown, Ohio, native brought with him his wife, Second Lady Usha Vance, and their four children, including their newborn son, Alec, staff at the suburban Waffle House said.
Employees at the Union Township restaurant were surprised when the Vances appeared for breakfast on Saturday morning, said district manager Dezzarae Mejzlik. The day before, Vance gave a speech at a steel plant in Middletown and poured beer for supporters at Price Hill Chili.
After posing for photos with Waffle House employees, Vance and his team bought a cake at Jungle Jim's for Mejzlik, who was celebrating her birthday.
"It was a cool experience,"
she told The Enquirer.

The Vances welcomed their fourth child, Alec, on July 19. The couple shares three other young children: Ewan, who is 9; Vivek, who is 6; and 4-year-old Mirabel.
At Cleveland-Cliffs on Aug. 21, Vance and others announced that a $500 million federal grant will go to the Middletown steel plant, where his grandfather worked. Several Ohio politicians joined the vice president in making campaign-like speeches ahead of the midterm elections.
