Which private high school is truly the best in the Cincinnati area? According to Niche, a school ranking and review site, The Seven Hills School claimed the No. 1 spot for the third consecutive year.

The Madisonville school topped other high-ranking private programs in the region as part of Niche's 2027 Best Private High Schools in the Cincinnati area ranking, including Cincinnati Country Day School. The coeducational school in Indian Hill ranked No. 2 this year. Rounding out the top schools in the No. 3 spot this year is Summit Country Day School.

The Seven Hills School ranked first in other statewide and Cincinnati area categories. The school was ranked the No. 1 college preparatory private high school in Ohio. It also ranked first locally for

private K-12 and STEM.

Seven Hill's Doherty Campus, located in East Walnut Hills, will close by the 2027-28 school year.

Three Greater Cincinnati schools were among Ohio's top 10 best private schools, per Niche. The Seven Hills School was ranked No. 6 statewide, with Cincinnati Country Day School ranking at No. 8 and Summit Country Day School at No. 10.

Factors like student-teacher ratio, culture and diversity and overall experience were evaluated using a mix of "rigorous analysis of data" from the U.S. Department of Education, various school accrediting agencies, along with test scores, college data and more.

The measure with the most weight toward a school's rank, at 20%, is college enrollment, or the percentage of seniors who go on to a four-year college. A newly added culture and diversity grade, along with parent and student surveys, the average score of the colleges graduates enroll in, and the colleges students are interested in, are each weighted 14%.
