Three people are in custody after Cincinnati police chased a vehicle through Downtown and into the West Side in relation to a homicide, officials said.
The pursuit began in the afternoon of Aug. 27 after the vehicle was flagged as being connected to a homicide investigation, according to Cincinnati police spokesman Brad Underwood.
An Enquirer reporter observed police chasing a car westbound on Central Parkway near the Hamilton County Courthouse around 1:45 p.m. Just a few minutes later, the vehicle was being chased on Ninth Street past the Downtown branch of the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library.
The car's headlight was damaged, with scrapes along the side and the passenger door hanging open.
Underwood said there were three crashes related
to the pursuit: the suspects' vehicle crashed into another vehicle Downtown, two police cruisers collided with each other in Queensgate, and then the suspects crashed into another vehicle.
The final crash sent three bystanders to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Underwood said. Two police officers were also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
He added that the pursuit ended near State and Harrison avenues in East Price Hill.
The people inside the pursued vehicle were apprehended, according to Underwood. It remains unclear what homicide investigation the pursuit was related to, or whether any of those inside the vehicle were involved in the killing.
