CBS studio analyst and former NFL quarterback Russell Wilson said during halftime of the Cincinnati Bengals-Houston Texans Week 2 game that he's worried about the hits Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is taking from Houston.
"Here's the key to this game: Are they going to be able to protect Joey B?" Wilson said during the broadcast. "He is getting crushed. Joey, you're getting crushed out there. Keep battling, keep playing. … I love what he did when he stepped up and ran. … If it's not there right away, just move. Get rid of the ball if it's not there. Just don't get crushed, Joe. We need you."
Burrow did have a touchdown pass during the second quarter, on a remarkable catch by receiver Ja'Marr Chase.
One week earlier, Wilson said Burrow is "gone"
if this season doesn't go well for the Bengals.
"I love Joe's mentality this offseason," Wilson said on CBS. "His presence, and how focused he was and he just seems like he really wants to compete. I think he's tired of losing. He said that a few times. He's really focused on making sure this is that special year. Listen, if it doesn't go well in Cincinnati this year, I'm just telling you right now Joe Burrow's gone. I think he wants to leave. And what's gonna be interesting is, is where does he go? There's some great teams that need a quarterback."
