A Mariemont juice bar and cafe has closed.
Rune Kitchen + Juicery, located at 6844 Wooster Pike, has shuttered, according to an Instagram post from the business. The locally owned vegan spot cited staffing challenges, seasonal slowdowns and the demands of operating its Northside location as reasons for the closure.
The post states that operating two locations was no longer sustainable and that closing the Mariemont location would allow the business to continue evolving.
"This space has meant so much to us and we’re incredibly grateful to the Mariemont community for welcoming us with open arms and showing us so much love over the years," the Oct. 18 post reads.
"We don’t see this as a defeat, but as a stepping stone in Rune’s growth. Businesses evolve,
and sometimes that means making difficult decisions about what comes next. We’ve reached a point where our vision for Rune has outgrown what our Mariemont space can accommodate, and we need to put our energy where we can continue to grow, create, and offer more of what we envision for the business," the post continued.
While Rune's Mariemont location has closed, the post said the Northside location is "thriving." The restaurant and juice bar plans to expand its Northside food offerings to "explore what Rune can become."
"Closing this chapter is bittersweet, but we’re looking forward to what’s ahead. Thank you, Mariemont, for being part of our story," the post states.
