Cincinnati is already home to one of the best tacos in the United States. It turns out Greater Cincinnati is also home to one of the top-rated Mexican restaurants in the country. According to Yelp, you'll find it in Northern Kentucky just across the river from downtown Cincinnati.
California dominated the rankings, and the NKY spot was the closest restaurant to Ohio to make the list. Here are the details.
NKY restaurant cracks Yelp's top 25 Mexican food spots
La Torta Loca was the only Cincinnati-area restaurant to make the list, landing ahead of several restaurants in Arizona, California, Florida and Texas. Kentucky landed three restaurants, while Ohio was shut out of the rankings.
Yelp describes La Torta Loca as a family-owned restaurant serving a fusion of Mexican and Venezuelan cuisine. The Florence
eatery is known for made-from-scratch tortas, arepas, empanadas and street tacos.
Louisville joined Florence on the Yelp list, with Con Huevos ranking No. 8 and Mayan Cafe ranking No. 13.
How Yelp ranked the restaurants
The ranking is based on the volume and ratings of reviews submitted by members of its Yelp Elite Squad, according to Yelp. The list includes Mexican-food businesses across the U.S. and Canada and reflects all-time review activity rather than a single year of data.
