Long John Silver's has shrunk from more than 1,000 U.S. restaurants in 2015 to fewer than 500 today. So, it might not be surprising to learn four Ohio locations closed in 2025.

told the Cincinnati Enquirer that it also opened four Ohio restaurants in 2025 and has reported 16 consecutive quarters of comparable same-store sales growth.

A Long John Silver's representative told The Enquirer that four Long John Silver's restaurants permanently closed in Ohio during 2025. Those locations were:
- Jackson: 448 E. Main St.
- Milford: 910 State Route 28
- Uhrichsville: 104 E. McCauley Dr. (a co-branded Taco Bell and Long John Silver's restaurant)
- Youngstown: 850 N. Canfield Niles Road
In Kentucky, one restaurant permanently closed during the same period, at Appalachian Plaza in South Williamson, Kentucky.

The company said it continued investing in Ohio, opening locations in Canton, Huron, Springfield and Toledo in 2025.
"Long John Silver's continues to optimize its restaurant portfolio while investing in remodels and new restaurant development," said Laura Ellis, chief marketing officer of Long John Silver's. Ellis said many recent footprint changes reflected intentional portfolio decisions, including co-brand separations.

The company website lists four locations in Northern Kentucky, part of 44 across Kentucky.
