President Trump will hold a rally in Northern Kentucky this weekend.
The "Midterm Rally" will be held in Highland Heights on Oct. 17, with doors opening at 10:30 a.m. and the president scheduled to speak around 2 p.m.
Kentucky is generally considered a safe Republican state. With Sen. Mitch McConnell is retiring, his seat is open.
U.S. Rep. Andy Barr, the Republican nominee, has released his first ad of the general election season, and more could be on the way.
Meanwhile, for Charles Booker, the Democratic nominee, a new poll is cause for optimism. The results, released Sept. 9 by Democratic polling firm Global Strategy Group, found Booker nine points behind Barr, but that evens out to a 43% tie once potential voters are given information about
both candidates.
The poll surveyed 600 likely voters on the U.S. Senate race, their approval of President Donald Trump, their thoughts on Kentucky's future and more.
Trump's trip will take him to Kentucky's 4th Congressional District, where he vanquished one of his Republican critics, Rep. Thomas Massie, in a May primary. The GOP candidate is Ed Gallrein.
