Bad news for people who planned to have a star-spangled Saturday at Freedom Fest.
Firebrand organizer Eric Deters announced on social media Monday that the patriotic, political event − scheduled for Sept. 26 − is canceled.
"I am never ever, ever, ever, ever doing this event again. Ever," he said on Facebook Sept. 21.
In the past, thousands of people attended the event, which has featured conservative speakers, live music, food trucks and vendors, entertainment for kids, and fireworks. He has called it "the best MAGA event, no question."
Top MAGA personalities like Eric Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and Candace Owens have spoken at the event over the past few years.
This year's speakers were slated to include Kid Rock, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Republican
Ed Gallrein, U.S. Rep. James Comer and Fox News contributor Joe Concha, among many more, according to the Freedom Fest website.
'Rich people, as a whole, suck'
Deters, who has been a controversial force in Northern Kentucky politics and legal landscape, said he was counting on VIP ticket sales from wealthy people he regularly helps and associates with.
"When I put together Patriots Day Freedom Fest, I put it together with the game plan and the idea that I could pay for it with VIP sales of $1,000 from these 100 people that I interact with on a regular basis," he said.
But so far, only six people have purchased the tickets.
"Rank-and-file Americans are the backbone of this country, (from) both political parties," Deters added. "I want to tell you something, rich people, as a whole, suck."
But Deters is not down and out about the cancellation of the event.
Deters hosts the Eric Deters Show on YouTube and social media where he discusses political news and gives conservative hot takes.
"With 600,000 followers and 50 million views a month, I know I've got some power and I will use that power for good and I will use that power for the people," Deters said.
