We have reached the point in the college football season when there will be no chaos-free weekends. What looked like a pedestrian slate proved to be anything but, causing another round of shuffling through the US LBM Coaches Poll.
Unlike the past couple of weeks, however, the wildness didn’t quite reach the top. Miami (Fla.) will keep the No. 1 spot. The Hurricanes rolled against Pittsburgh and received 67 of 74 first-place votes this week. No. 2 Ohio State, which had the weekend off, was voted first by six panelists. Georgia, also in its open date, moves up a notch to No. 3. Indiana needed overtime to get out of Michigan with a win and moves up to No. 4. Utah, now one of just three remaining unbeaten teams in the Bowl Subdivision, enters the top five
for the first time since Dec. 1, 2019.
Notre Dame climbs two positions to No. 6. UCLA checks in at No. 7, the highest ranking for the Bruins since the 2014 preseason poll. The Bruins, the third member of the unbeaten club, also claim the last No. 1 vote.
Kentucky vaults four places to No. 8, matching their highest position since Sept. 25, 2022. Brigham Young, an upset victim at Central Florida for its first loss of the campaign, tumbles six places to No. 9. Alabama is back in the top 10, though the Crimson Tide struggled to put away Texas A&M.
Texas returned to the win column and bounces back up seven spots to No. 11, a notch ahead of the Mississippi team the Longhorns defeated. Texas Tech, also no longer among the unbeaten, falls nine spots to No. 14.
Arizona joins the top 25 this week at No. 21. Oregon is the lone dropout, as Southern California narrowly holds on to the No. 25 position.
