Cincinnati Bengals (2-1) safety Bryan Cook (ankle) and offensive lineman Dalton Risner (knee) are questionable to play on Oct. 4 when the team hosts the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-1).
Bengals coach Zac Taylor said “we’ll see” when asked about both Risner and Cook’s availability for the Week 4 contest. Safety Kyle Dugger and linebacker Swayze Bozeman have been ruled out.
The Bengals are dealing with several injuries in the secondary and will be thin at cornerback and safety. Slot cornerback Jalen Davis was placed on injured reserve and that means Dax Hill will move from outside cornerback to inside. Cornerbacks DJ Ivey and Tacario Davis will play opposite of DJ Turner II in place of Hill.
If Cook is unable to play, the Bengals will look to PJ Jules
and Russ Yeast to fill in for him at safety with Dugger out. Jordan Battle was limited in practice this week with a hamstring injury but told The Enquirer he’s close to 100% and will play.
Risner is dealing with a knee injury and didn’t practice on Sept. 30 or Oct.1. If Risner can’t play against the Jaguars, Jalen Davis will get the start.
Cincinnati is hoping to get back on track against a talented Jaguars team at Paycor Stadium. To avoid being 2-2, the Bengals will need to play a clean game on offense and try to force Jacksonville quarterback Trevor Lawrence into making a mistake.
“They challenge you in all three phases,” Taylor said. "They’re well coached. They got a lot of good players on defense. They basically return everybody on offense. I think Trevor's playing really good right now. All of the things when two good teams are playing, the turnover battle all of that stuff is going to matter in a game like this.”
