WLWT-TV (Channel 5) anchor and reporter Megan Mitchellis engaged.
Mitchell, who has roughly 1.8 million followers on TikTok, announced her engagement to partner Alanna Schultz on social media on July 28.
Mitchell shared photos from New York City's Central Park, including one showing Schultz on one knee holding a ring. She captioned the post, "It was always Alanna."
In another post, Schultz holds a sign that reads, "Megan, you have brought so much color to my life. Your ambition and vision to paint a better future for us and this earth is admirable."
A Connecticut native, Mitchell spent seven years as a weekend morning reporter and anchor at WLWT before moving to Dallas in 2023 to join WFAA-TV (Channel 8) as an anchor and reporter. According to her
bio on WLWT's website, she covered breaking news in Dallas for 11 months before returning to Cincinnati.
During her first stint at WLWT, the Emmy-winning journalist was named Best TV Anchor and Best Journalist in the 2022 Best of Cincinnati Awards. She also finished third for Cincinnatian of the Year behind Bengals quarterback Joe Burrowand Fiona the Hippo that year.
Mitchell began posting on TikTok during the COVID-19 pandemic and has since grown her audience to about 1.8 million followers. She received a Power of Her Award from the Human Rights Campaign of Cincinnati and was named a TikTok 2022 LGBTQ+ Trailblazer.
