A Winton Hills High School student is now facing charges in connection with gunshots fired at the school’s athletic building, according to the Forest Park Police Department.
The shooting happened Tuesday, Sept. 1. A day later, police said they identified two suspects: one “school-aged individual and a second individual who is not a student.”
Detectives got an arrest warrant for one of the suspects on Sept. 2, and later that night, the 15-year-old Winton Woods student turned himself in at the police department, police said.
The teen’s grandmother came with the 15-year-old to turn himself in, police said.
Forest Park police say the Winton Woods student is now facing the following charges:
- Inducing panic.
- Illegal conveyance and possession of a deadly weapon upon school grounds.
- Improper discharge of a firearm.
- Felonious assault.
Police said the Sept. 1 shooting was an isolated incident.
“There
are no known current threats to students, staff, or the community,” police said.
