Thousands of Marketside Tomato Bisque Soup Kits sold at select Walmart stores in Ohio and 28 other states have been recalled because they may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.
The recall began after routine testing produced a presumptive positive result for listeria, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) notice. Kettle Cuisine said it's continuing to investigate with the agency. No illnesses have been reported.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious illness, particularly among pregnant women, young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems. Symptoms can include fever, headache, nausea, diarrhea and more.
The recall affects 3,240 packages of the 14-ounce soup kit with a use-by date of Aug. 22,

Which recalled soup kits were sold in Ohio?

According to the announcement, the recalled 14-ounce Marketside Tomato Bisque Soup Kit was distributed to select Walmart stores in Ohio and other states between June 30 and July 7, 2026.
Consumers in Ohio should check for the following:

- Size: 14 oz (397g)
- UPC: 194346474004
- Use-by date: August 22, 2026
The notice does not specify which Walmart locations in Ohio received the product.
What Ohio consumers should do
Consumers should not eat the recalled soup kit. Instead, they should discard it or return it to Walmart for a refund.
The FDA also advises customers to clean and sanitize any surfaces or containers that may have come into contact with the product and contact a healthcare provider if symptoms of listeriosis develop after consuming the product.

How many cases of listeriosis in Ohio?
Ohio has confirmed 23 cases of listeriosis so far this year, according to the Ohio Department of Health.
Licking County reported four cases, while Cuyahoga County reported three. Summit and Lucas counties each reported two. Ohio has recorded a total of 39 cases since August 2025, including the 23 reported in 2026.
What are symptoms of a listeria infection?
It can take three to four weeks to determine if someone is sick from the outbreak, and symptoms can vary from person to person, the Columbus Dispatch reports. Symptoms of the illness include:
- Fever
- Flu-like symptoms, such as muscle aches and fatigue
- Headache
- Stiff neck
- Confusion
- Loss of balance
- Seizures
The CDC recommends seeking medical attention if you have symptoms of listeria.
