Former Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon, a free agent, is working out for the Seattle Seahawks, according to a report Oct. 5 from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
In July, Mixon reportedly told former Bengals teammates he believed his NFL playing career to be over.
The Texans released Mixon in March.
The Bengals and Seahawks are not scheduled to meet during the 2026 regular season.
Mixon was named a Pro Bowler in his first season with the Texans. He missed his entire second season with the team because of a foot injury.
Mixon played his first seven NFL seasons for the Bengals. Mixon had 6,412 rushing yards and 2,139 receiving yards with 62 combined touchdowns over 97 games for the Bengals.
Cincinnati traded Mixon to Houston in March 2024 for a 2024 seventh-round
draft pick.
In January 2025, CBS analyst and former NFL star J.J. Watt questioned a $25,000 fine for Mixon for criticism of officials.
Sunday Night Football analyst and former Bengals receiver Cris Collinsworth said in November 2024 that Cincinnati's trade of Mixon gave the running back extra incentive to prove himself with Houston.
