Power outages in the region continue to drop from the peak of 180,000 on Tuesday night, afterstorms slammed the area with damaging winds, felling trees and powerlines. Duke Energy estimates remaining customers will have service restored by the end of the day Thursday.
Duke Energy reported outages early Thursday, Aug. 13, are at 52,000. The majority of the remaining outages are in Ohio, which was harder hit. About 9,000 customers in Northern Kentucky were still without power.
The largest number or outages appear to be in the Green Township area in Hamilton County and north of Batavia in Clermont County, according to Duke's outage map. The largest cluster in Northern Kentucky is in Kenton County.
"This was the highest count of outages and dispersion
of damage I've seen across this region in my time at Duke," company spokesman John Juech said on Wednesday.
By 8 p.m. Wednesday evening, customers without power were at 75,000. That evening, the company posted that 1,000 additional workers were joining the power restoration efforts.

When will Duke Energy restore power?
Duke Energy is prioritizing areas with the greatest number of customers, according to Juech. Outages are greatest in Hamilton County and the west side of Cincinnati.
The restoration time posted on the map for many areas was 11:59 p.m. Thursday. A notice on the website states that is the latest time the company expects to have customers restored and that many will have service restored sooner.
Continuing storms that brought heavy rain, lightning and winds have hampered restoration efforts, Juech said.
