Almost 5,000 students attend Campbell County Schools in Northern Kentucky.
Located about 15 miles southeast of Cincinnati, the district has five elementary schools, a middle school, a high school and the Campbell County Area Technology Center.
It ran on a $79 million total budget last school year.
The district's new superintendent, Adam Ritter, is the highest-paid employee at $220,000.
He started the job July 1 after serving as associate superintendent for Campbell County Schools for about four years under former Superintendent Shelli Wilson. Wilson announced her retirement this spring.
Ritter has been with the district for 18 years, where he served as an assistant principal and principal at Campbell County High School, the district said in a news
release. Before working at the district, he was a business education teacher and a counselor.
There are more than 170 school districts in Kentucky. Ritter's pay is roughly the 10th highest in the state, according to the most recent information available on the Kentucky Department of Education website.
