The former Belly Acres site in East Memphis is set for a new tenant and concept.
On Aug. 28, Atlanta-based Tedrow Design Group filed a commercial alteration permit with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development for a Flying Biscuit restaurant at 6130 Poplar Ave.
The Poplar Avenue location was the former Belly Acres site inside the Regalia Shopping Center in East Memphis. Following an eviction notice, Belly Acres closed in 2025.
According to the permit application, the construction is for tenant improvements and will include minor interior improvements, including new finishings, equipment and mechanical improvements for the 3,430-square-foot space. The estimated cost of construction is $150,000, according to the permit.
Flying Biscuit Café is an Atlanta-based breakfast franchise. The franchise launched in 1993, and its locations offer an all-day breakfast menu. The company has expanded to 34 locations. The Poplar Avenue site would be the second Tennessee location.
Flying Biscuit is opening its other Tennessee location in Knoxville inside the $30 million Lone Tree Pass mixed-use development, the franchise's first Tennessee location.
