The efforts focus primarily on the hospital's 23-member Institutional Review Board, the federally mandated board charged with protecting human research subjects.

JACKSON, Miss. ‒ A scientific study of a polio outbreak in Sunflower County where 43 cases developed in July on plantations north of Indianola will be made at once under direction of the State Board of Health and the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis. V.T. Anthony, foundation representative in Mississippi, said Friday that Dr. Lisbeth Kraft, scientist from the Yale Virus Research Center, had arrived to make the study.

DYERSBURG, Tenn. ‒ Appealing directly from the politicians to the people of the state, Gov. Austin Peay closed his battle for West Tennessee here this afternoon with a prediction of magnificent victory over the reactionary forces opposing him before an audience of more than 1,200 people in the courthouse square. "Crump of Memphis can't beat me," declared the governor. "Howse of Nashville and Bass of Chattanooga can't beat me."
