A fast-casual restaurant appears to have plans to expand its local footprint with a proposed location in Bartlett.
Georgia-based American Delihas submitted plans for renovation and remodeling of the former roughly 3,000-square-foot Wendy’s restaurant at 7920 U.S. 64 in Bartlett, according to a Facebook post by the City of Bartlett.
Todd Halford, chief communications officer for the City of Bartlett, told the Commercial Appeal on Sept. 10 since the former Wendy's building is already zoned for a commercial restaurant, American Deli will not be required to go before the Bartlett Planning Commission unless they plan on making changes to the exterior of the building, other than a sign change.
"At this time, we have received no plans for anything to
be changed on the exterior," Halford said. "All we have are the renderings for an interior remodel, which does not require board approval."
American Deli, based out of Atlanta since 1989, has a large range of food options, from burgers, salads, gyros, Philly cheesesteaks and sandwiches to fried rice and fish. They also claim to be the inventors of the "Lemon Pepper Wet" wings.
There are currently 14 locations in Shelby County alone, and one in DeSoto County. American Deli has plans to open a new location at 4265 Hacks Cross Road. The current building, formerly Original Hot Dog Factory, will be remodeled.
