Memphis has spoken, and apparently, Snickers really does satisfy… The Commercial Appeal's readers that is.
On Oct. 19, we asked readers to vote for their favorite Halloween candy.
The dozen candies on the ballot were Starburst, Twix, Sour Patch Kids, M&Ms, Snickers, Nerds, KitKats, SweeTarts, Skittles, Jolly Ranchers, Twizzlers and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.
Voting ended at noon Friday, Oct. 23.
And it was one chocolate bar with an irresistible mix of nougat, caramel and peanuts that came out on top. Surprisingly, it wasn’t even very close.
Snickers took first place with a whopping 30.8% of the vote, making it the clear favorite among the candy lovers who weighed
in.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups followed in second place with 26%, proving that the chocolate-and-peanut-butter combination is still tough to beat.
Twix rounded out the top three with 12.5% of the vote, giving the crunchy cookie-and-caramel crowd something to celebrate, too.
KitKats landed in fourth place with 9.7% of the vote.
One thing the results made abundantly clear? Chocolate definitely had the upper hand.
While Snickers, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Twix and KitKats claimed the top four spots, the fruity and sour crowd had a tougher time winning over voters.
Skittles and SweeTarts each earned just 2% of the vote, while Jolly Ranchers picked up 1%. Sour Patch Kids, meanwhile, barely registered a vote. This despite a recent report that Sour Patch Kids ranks No. 1 in nationwide search interest over the past 12 months. Not when it comes to The Commercial Appeal's readers it doesn't.
Looks like when it comes to Halloween candy in the Mid-South, chocolate bars with a little something extra are the most in-demand for trick-or-treaters of any age.
Happy Halloween, Memphis. May your plastic pumpkin buckets stay full — and stocked with lots and lots of Snickers.
