When it comes to the pop charts, because Elvis' career began before the official Billboard 100 chart was launched, there is some debate about the actual number of chart-toppers Elvis had. Nowadays, it's generally recognized that Elvis tallied 18 No. 1 hits, starting with “Heartbreak Hotel” in 1956 and ending with “Suspicious Minds” in 1969.
