Months after State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance promised payouts for customers, it has begun issuing payments from a $5 billion dividend to qualifying customers.
In February 2026, State Farm announced policyholder dividends, which are returns of policyholder premiums. These dividends result from income exceeding losses and expenses.
State Farm has not provided a timeline for when payments will end for eligible customers.

How many State Farm customers will get payments?
The company said it will distribute the dividend in waves to eligible customers across more than 49 million vehicles in its network.
How much money could State Farm auto customers get back?
The payments will average about $100 per vehicle, varying by state and premiums paid, State Farm said in a February news release.
Who is eligible for the $100 State Farm payment?
State Farm auto customers who had an active personal car insurance policy in 2025 will receive the payment, State Farm previously told USA TODAY.
Customers eligible for a payout will receive a notification via email or letter, as stated in a July news release from State Farm. For any inquiries, customers can reach the Dividend Customer Contact Center at 1-888-808-9532 or visit sfdividend.com.
How long will it take State Farm to issue payments?
Due to the scale and reach of the dividend payments, the process is expected to take several months to complete, the company said.
