A Fox13 anchor found national attention after dozing off on camera last week.
Dominique Dillon, a reporter and anchor at Fox13 in Memphis and the mom of two young girls, fell asleep during a segment on Good Morning Memphis on July 29. The moment went viral, and viewers were quick to come to her defense on social media.
During the segment, the station cut back to Dillon to reveal her with her eyes closed and her head resting on her hands. The station quickly cut to the weather forecast, but reporters could not conceal their laughter.
When the broadcast returned to the anchors, co-anchor Ernie Freeman called Dillon "Sleeping Beauty," and Dillon said she just had something in her eye.
Now, the moment has found a national audience, including coverage
from The Today Show and People magazine.
Dillon returned from maternity leave in April, and in an Aug. 5 appearance on The Today Show, she said she had a tough time getting her youngest child to go to bed the night before.
Fox13 praised Dillon as a "stellar" reporter in an Aug. 4 article.
"The incident—or, as we refer to it around the newsroom, 'the power nap' —has garnered national attention, and we couldn't be prouder to have Dominique in the spotlight, highlighting how difficult it can be for new mothers to get back in the groove when returning to work," the article read.
