TheNorthside Square mixed-use development is adding another tenant soon.
On Sept. 18, a commercial alteration permit was filed with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development for
a tenant infill space for Memphis-based nonprofit Collective Blueprint.
According to the permit application, the 8,803-square-foot space has an estimated construction cost of $1.15 million. Currently, Collective Blueprint has offices at Crosstown Concourse in Memphis' Midtown neighborhood.
In January, Northside Square held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the $82 million mixed-use campus located at 1212 Vollintine Ave. The ambitiousadaptive reuse project has transformed the former Northside High School site.
Northside High School opened in 1966 and closed in 2016 due to declining enrollment. Memphis-based The Works Inc. and ComCap Partners began plans to reopen the site for mixed-use after acquiring the property in 2021. The project was rebranded as Northside Square in July 2022 and held a ceremonial groundbreaking in December 2023.
The current space will have several other tenants, including Moore Tech, Lifedoc Health, Memphis Symphony Orchestra, CodeCrew, Literacy Mid-South and a satellite office for the Greater Memphis Chamber. Additionally, Northside Square will also have 42 affordable housing units on the upper floors.
