Shelby County residents had five different clerk positions to vote for this year, putting officials in at every clerk location except for General Sessions Court.
On the ballot this year were circuit court clerk, criminal court clerk, juvenile court clerk, probate court clerk and county clerk.
Two of those races — circuit court and probate court — featured candidates running unopposed. Here are the results of this year's clerk races.
Each clerk oversees their respective court's day-to-day operations and manages document filings.
Who won the Shelby County clerk election?
Democrat nominee LaSonya Hall won the race for Shelby County Clerk. She will succeed outgoing County Clerk Wanda Halbert, who ran out the clock on two attempts to remove her from office, after defeating Republican Tina Montgomery.
Results:
- LaSonya Hall (D): 65.94% of the vote
- Tina Montgomery (R): 33.97% of the vote
Who won the Shelby County Circuit Court clerk election?
Incumbent Shelby County Circuit Court Clerk Jamita Swearengen, a Democrat, was reelected to her post. She ran unopposed in both the Democratic primary and the general election.
Results:
- Jamita Swearengen (D): 98.49% of the vote
Who won the Shelby County Criminal Court clerk election?
Democratic nominee Joe Towns, Jr. won the race for Shelby County Criminal Court clerk. He will succeed outgoing clerk Heidi Kuhn after defeating Republican Edquardo Jamison.
Results:
- Joe Towns, Jr. (D): 67.20% of the vote
- Edquardo Jamison (R): 32.55% of the vote
Who won the Shelby County Juvenile Court clerk election?
Democratic Incumbent Shelby County Juvenile Court Clerk Janeen Gordon retained her seat in this year's election, defeating Independent challenger Teresa Maclin-Garvins. No Republican ran in the race.
Results:
- Janeen Gordon (D): 73.94% of the vote
- Teresa Maclin-Garvins (I): 25.7% of the vote
Who won the Shelby County Probate Court clerk election?
Incumbent Shelby County Probate Court Clerk Eddie Jones, a Democrat, retained his seat for probate court. He ran unopposed in the general election after narrowly defeating challenger William Chism, Jr. in the primary.

- Eddie Jones (D): 98.89% of the vote
