For the fourth year in a row, Memphis football and Tulane are set to face each other on a weeknight.
The matchup between the Tigers (5-1, 2-0 American Conference) and the Green Wave (2-3, 0-1) is typically one of the top games on the American schedule, and that's why it's often been placed in a prominent spot on ESPN. This year's game, on Oct. 16 (6:30 p.m., ESPN) is early enough in the season that the stakes aren't sky-high, but it'll still be closely-watched around the conference.
Tulane has gone to four straight conference title games and is coming off a College Football Playoff appearance, but the Tigers will enter the game as favorites. They've cruised through the first two conference tests with blowout wins over Charlotte and UAB.
The Green
Wave, meanwhile, have struggled to a slow start under new coach Will Hall. They lost on a last-minute field goal at Army on Oct. 10 and are still looking for their first conference win of the season.
