With numerous Memphis-area schools on fall break, Week 9 many big programs in the area won't be in action. That means the week’s top games include teams that haven’t been featured before.
Still, the Memphis area has a wealth of strong football programs, and several regional rivalries will be decided this week. Here are our top games and predictions.
Game of the Week
Memphis University School (3-4) at Memphis Central (7-0)
When: 7 p.m. | Oct. 16
MUS has struggled in Division II-AAA play, sitting at 0-3 in the region. However, the Owls’ performances in non-region games have been impressive. Central is the final undefeated program in the Memphis area, and it will have to perform at a high level to stay that way.
Ryan Myers’ prediction: Central 27, MUS 21

Lake Cormorant, Mississippi (6-0, 1-0 Region 1-6A) at Center Hill, Mississippi (5-1, 1-0)
When: 7 p.m.
| Oct. 16
Theundefeated Gators travel to Center Hill for an intriguing region game between two Memphis-area Mississippi programs. Center Hill has picked up impressive wins over MASE and Cordova, but hosting Lake Cormorant could be its toughest test yet.
Myers’ prediction: Lake Cormorant 28, Center Hill 20
White Station (3-4, 0-1 Region 8-6A) at Germantown (2-5, 0-1)
When: 7 p.m. | Oct. 16
This is a matchup of two prominent Memphis-area programs that have struggled in 2026. However, in a region with Southwind and Whitehaven, this game will help determine which program has a chance to win the region. The remaining games won’t matter if neither team can reach 2-1 in region play, and that goal starts with this matchup.
Myers’ prediction: Germantown 20, White Station 14 (OT)
St. Benedict (2-5, 1-1 DII-AA) at Lausanne (3-3, 1-1)
When: 7 p.m. | Oct. 16
Lausanne picked up its biggest win of the season in Week 8, a 49-35 victory over Collierville. St. Benedict has faced turbulence in 2026, but its latest win over St. George’s could get it back on track for the stretch run.
Myers’ prediction: Lausanne 35, St. Benedict 14
Christian Brothers (4-3, 0-2 DII-AAA, West Region) at Lipscomb Academy (5-2, 2-0)
When: 7 p.m. | Oct. 16
The last time we saw CBHS, it was moments away from knocking off Briarcrest, but a late touchdown sealed the win for the Purple Wave. After an off week, CBHS continues region play with a difficult road game against Lipscomb Academy, a top-15 team in Nashville.
Myers’ prediction: Lipscomb Academy 35, CBHS 30
Covington (6-1, 3-0 Region 7-3A) at Dyersburg (4-3, 3-0)
When: 7 p.m. | Oct. 16
Covington has consistently impressed in 2026, dominating most of its Class 3A opponents. Tied with Dyersburg for second in the region, Covington can show it has what it takes to win the region outright. The Chargers’ final game of the season is against Region 7 leader Westview, so they need to perform well to stay in the hunt.
Myers’ prediction: Covington 35, Dyersburg 27
Hernando, Mississippi (5-1, 1-0 Region 1-7A) at Tupelo, Mississippi (7-0, 1-0)
When: 7 p.m. | Oct. 15
Hernando travels south to face the No. 1 team in Mississippi in a matchup between two big-time programs. Hernando has been impressive lately, winning three consecutive games after a double-overtime loss.
Myers’ prediction: Tupelo 38, Hernando 21
Northpoint Christian (3-5, 1-1 DII-AA, West Region) at Evangelical Christian (4-3, 0-1)
When: 7 p.m. | Oct. 16
This Friday night matchup between region foes should be fun to watch. ECS has yet to win a region game, and hosting Northpoint Christian offers a good opportunity to get the ball rolling with three region games left on its schedule.
Myers’ prediction: ECS 33, Northpoint Christian 14

Wooddale (3-4, 1-2 Region 8-3A) at Bolton (6-2, 4-0)
When: 7 p.m. | Oct. 16
Bolton enters as the favorite, but region games can produce surprises. The hosts have been impressive, winning six games in a row since losing to Memphis Central, while Wooddale has lost three consecutive games.
Myers’ prediction: Bolton 38, Wooddale 18
Munford (6-1, 2-0 Region 8-5A) at Brighton (3-4, 1-1)
When: 7 p.m. | Oct. 16
Munford responded emphatically after its only loss, to Whitehaven, winning two games by a combined score of 131-0. A trip to Brighton will be an interesting test because Brighton has plenty to play for. Its latest region game was a 44-6 win over Kingsbury.
Myers’ prediction: Munford 44, Brighton 7
Season record: 43-17
