The last official weekend of the summer is going to be one of its hottest.
Highs are expected to rise to 100 degrees this weekend, and heat index values will rise even higher, according to a forecast released by the National Weather Service in Memphis. Temperatures aren't expected to drop out of the 70s at night, and there's a heat advisory in effect until 8 p.m. on Sept. 19.
Here's the weekend weather forecast from the NWS in Memphis.
Friday weather
Sept. 18 will be sunny and hot, with highs around 100 degrees and heat index values up to 107. There will be a slight breeze, around 5 mph.
Friday night is expected to be mostly clear with lows in the mid 70s.
Saturday weather
Sept. 19 should be sunny and hot with highs around 100 degrees.
Saturday night is expected to be mostly clear
with lows in the mid 70s.
Sunday weather
Sept. 20 should be sunny with highs in the upper 90s.
Sunday night should be partly cloudy, with lows in the mid 70s.
Monday weather
Sept. 21 should be mostly sunny with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 90s and there's a 20 percent chance of rain.
