Memphis basketball will host Grand Canyon Dec. 11, as part of a home-and-home series with the Antelopes, according to college basketball insider Jon Rothstein.
Penny Hardaway's program is slated to travel to Phoenix for a road game against Grand Canyon (which joined the Mountain West Conference last season) during the 2027-28 season. The date has not been set.
The addition of Bryce Drew's program to the Tigers' 2026-27 non-conference schedule marks the first matchup between Memphis and Grand Canyon. It also leaves just two non-conference openings for Hardaway to fill.
Hardaway and Co. are set to face Baylor (in Waco, Texas) — coached by Drew's older brother, Scott — on Dec. 5.
The Lopes finished last season with a 20-12 record — the first time since
the shortened 2020-21 season that the program registered fewer than 23 wins — snapping a string of three straight March Madness appearances.
The Tigers are set to play 14 non-conference games and 18 American Conference games this season, beginning with the neutral-site matchup against Iowa State on Nov. 2 at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Memphis is also set to face Mississippi State and Arkansas in preseason exhibition games on the road. The Tigers are expected to add a third exhibition game against a power conference program, to be played at FedExForum.
