There's always been a subtle confidence Lawrence Brittexudes on the football field.
The four-star Missouri football commit is bracing for his senior year at Lausanne and is on a mission to help avenge a TSSAA football Division II-A semifinal loss to Franklin Academy suffered in 2025.
More than two years before that, a lanky Britt had walked into Lausanne coach Kevin Locastro's office, looked him in the eyes, and said, "I want to play Power Four football."
It was a bold statement to a coach he had just met.
Throughout the next three seasons, his confident demeanor never frayed. In 2025, Britt had 41 receptions for 652 yards and 11 touchdowns. Britt credits most of his growth
to backyard workouts after watching college football games.
"Every Saturday, my dad and my mom and I would sit down and watch college football. I'd watch college football all day, and seeing those guys competing at the highest level and then get to the NFL," Britt said. "That inspired me to do the same thing."
He's never been a loud presence on the field, but nowadays, everyone notices him.
"You never know how a kid is going to develop or what their work ethic is going to turn into," Locastro said. "But he's been a solid leader the last couple years. He's a tremendous worker when he doesn't have to be the hardest worker."
There's an effortless flow to Britt's drills during Lausanne practices. After playing quarterback as a freshman and playing on offense and defense in 2024, Britt was primed to become a top prep prospect in the area. Now, fully committed to the wide receiver position, Britt will play a key role in Lausanne's success in 2026.
"This year is a big development year and a growing year for me to be able to grow and take the next steps in college," said the 6-foot-1, 178-pound Britt, who is the No. 14 player in the state and No. 20 athlete, nationally, according to 247Sports Composite.
Football has never been that hard for Britt, at least not since the first time he played football with the Germantown Raiders when he was 5.
"Seeing the life that football can give my family and me, it's a way where I don't have to work again. I look at that as a positive," Britt explained. "I love the game, and the game loves me back."
But for Britt, the job isn't done. There's a lingering sense of dissatisfaction. He understands he has the opportunity to get better.
"He always dominated the competition, and that's what he's doing now," said quarterback Thomas Heffner. "That's a guy you can always look up to. A leader and a person that always treats someone like a little brother."
Lausanne opens the season at Southwind on Aug. 21.
"I got a competitive chip on my shoulder. I know that I ain't No. 1, so I ain't satisfied," Britt explained. "I just gotta go in and show up. I gotta show people that I am No. 1."
