Although summer is nearly over, Memphians expecting a reprieve from the heat will be disappointed to hear temperatures will remain high this weekend.
Highs will float around the 90s and heat index values will remain in the triple digits this weekend, according to a forecast released by the National Weather Service in Memphis. There is also a decent chance of rain this weekend.
Here's the weekend weather forecast from the NWS in Memphis.
Friday weather
Sept. 11 should be partly sunny with a decent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs will be in the lower 90s but will fall into the upper 80s in the afternoon, and there will be a light breeze around 5 mph. The chance of rain is 50%.
Friday night will be partly cloudy with a chance of showers
and a slight chance of thunderstorms. There will be a light breeze and lows in the lower 70s. The chance of rain is 40%.
Saturday weather
Sept. 12 should be mostly sunny with highs in the mid 90s and heat index values up to 105. There's a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, around 20%.
Saturday night should be partly cloudy in the evening before clearing up. Lows will be in the lower 70s.
Sunday weather
Sept. 13 will be sunny with highs in the mid 90s and heat index values up to 105.
The evening will cool down a bit with lows in the mid 70s. It'll be mostly clear that night.
Monday weather
Sept. 14 is again expected to be sunny with highs in the mid 90s and heat index values up to 105.
Monday night should be mostly clear with lows in the mid 70s.
