Memphis football's Oct. 10 game vs. UAB will kick off at 6 or 6:30 p.m., the schools announced on Sept. 28.
It will be broadcast on ESPN2 or ESPNU. The specifics will be announced on Oct. 4.
There's plenty of intrigue heading into this year's game, which is known as the "Battle for the Bones" and features a 94-pound bronze rack of ribs as a trophy. Last season, Memphis was undefeated and considered the top Group of Six team in the country when it traveled to Birmingham to face a UAB team that had just fired coach Trent Dilfer.
But the Blazers pulled off one of the most stunning upsets of the 2025 season, beating the Tigers as more than three touchdown underdogs thanks to a remarkable performance from Ryder Burton, who was making his first career
start at quarterback.
Memphis has an almost entirely new team and coaching staff after Ryan Silverfield left for Arkansas and was replaced by Charles Huff.
UAB has looked like a much-improved team under new coach Alex Mortensen, who was the interim coach for that Memphis game last year in his head coaching debut at any level. The Blazers (2-2) host FCS-level Samford on Oct. 3. Memphis (3-1) travels to Charlotte in the American Conference opener for both teams.
