SpaceXAI could owe the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality up to $6.1 million after it violated stormwater permits, the company disclosed in an Oct. 22 filing.
In August, MDEQ notified the company that it had disturbed land at three sites before it was covered under Mississippi's Large Construction Stormwater General Permit, according to the filing.
MDEQ is seeking civil penalties of up to $25,000 per day, which could add up to a grand total of $6.1 million across the three sites.
MDEQ issued the notice to MZX Tech LLC, an affiliate of the artificial intelligence company.
The company is working with MDEQ to resolve the matter through a "single agreed order," according to the filing.
