The business end of the TSSAA high school football season is here. The Memphis area has been fortunate to see several compelling matchups. Now, in October, the regular season is reaching its climax.
The
top four teams in the Week 7 Memphis area Super 15 Football Rankings remain the same. The middle of the pack features schools from a wide range of classes, and every program is gearing up for the home stretch of the season.
1. Briarcrest
Classification: Division II-AAA; Record: 7-0, 2-0 West Region; Next game: at Brentwood Academy, Oct. 9
Briarcrest was moments away from losing its first game of the season against Christian Brothers on Oct. 3. Late heroics from quarterback Cayden Dixon and wide receiver JD Donaldson on a 65-yard touchdown salvaged a 29-28 winover CBHS. Winning is all that matters, and the Saints remain unbeaten. Last week: No. 1.

2. Southwind
Classification: 6A; Record: 6-1, 1-0 Region 8; Next game: at Whitehaven, Oct. 9
Southwind played a competitive game against Briarcrest in Week 6, but fell short. The Jaguars return to top two status thanks to a 46-6 bounce back win over Kirby in Week 7 Last week: No. 3.
3. Whitehaven
Classification: 6A; Record: 5-1, 1-0 Region 8; Next game: vs. Southwind, Oct. 9
The Tigers traveled to Munford in Week 6 and won in dominant fashion. They host Southwind in a game nobody in Memphis wants to miss. Last week: No. 2.
4. Memphis Central
Classification: 5A; Record: 7-0, 2-0 Region 8; Next game: at Memphis University School, Oct. 16
Memphis Central took down Overton 42-0 in Week 7. The undefeated Warriors have have an off week before their final three games of the regular season. Last week: No. 4.
5. Munford
Classification: 5A; Record: 5-1, 1-0 Region 8; Next game: vs. Overton, Oct. 9
Munford bounced back from its loss to Whitehaven by defeating Kingsbury 68-0 in Week 7. The Cougars are in the midst of region play and aim to run the table in 5A. Last week: No. 5.
6. Lake Cormorant (Mississippi)
Classification: 6A; Record: 6-0, 1-0 Region 1; Next game: at Center Hill, Oct. 16
Its first region game against South Panola was a matchup of two top Mississippi programs, and the Gators pulled out a 27-23 win to stay undefeated. Last week: No. 6.
7. Collierville
Classification: 6A; Record: 4-3, 2-0 Region 7; Next game: vs. Lausanne, Oct. 8
Collierville struggled early in the season against stiff competition, but those games clearly prepared the Dragons for matchups in region 7-6A. They won their last three by an average of 46 points. Last week: No. 8.
8. Christian Brothers
Classification: Division II-AAA; Record: 4-3, 0-2 West Region; Next game: at Lipscomb Academy, Oct. 16
CBHS led for most of the second half against Briarcrest but lost in the final 90 seconds. Having already played its final regular season home game, CBHS has a week off to prepare for the home stretch. Last week: No. 7.
9. Covington
Classification: 3A; Record: 6-1, 3-0 Region 7; Next game: at Dyersburg, Oct. 16
The Chargers have been on a roll, winning five consecutive games since losing to Haywood in August. They are positioned to contend for the region after winning their three region games by an average of 50 points. Last week: No. 11.
10. Houston
Classification: 6A; Record: 3-4, 2-0 Region 7; Next game: at Arlington, Oct. 8
The saying “iron sharpens iron” is the best way to describe Houston’s 2026 season. The Mustangs hosted Oak Grove, one of Mississippi’s top programs, and lost in a 48-45 thriller. Their last two games are in the region. Last week: No. 9.
11. MASE
Classification: 2A; Record: 4-3, 4-0 Region 8; Next game: at Bluff City, Oct. 9
MASE continues to prove its quality in the region, remaining undefeated after a 59-0 win over Sheffield. The remainder of league play is going to be exciting with MASE toward the front of the table. Last week: No. 10.
12. Fairley
Classification: 2A; Record: 5-2, 4-0 Region 8; Next game: vs. Hillcrest, Oct. 16
Fairley and MASE are on a collision course in region play, as both schools remain undefeated in and hurtle toward an end-of-season clash that will determine playoff seeding. Last week: Not ranked.
13. Lausanne
Classification: Division II-AA; Record: 2-3, 1-0 West Region; Next game: at Collierville, Oct. 8
Lausanne’s talent is undeniable, and a 50-6 win in its first region game was the start it needed. Its final non-region matchup of the season is a clash with Collierville. Last week: No. 15.
14. St. George’s
Classification: Division II-AA; Record: 6-1, 1-0 West Region; Next game: at St. Benedict, Oct. 9
St. George’s earned its third straight win by beating Northpoint Christian 14-7 to begin region play. Region games are all that remain on the schedule. Last week: No. 15.
15. Bartlett
Classification: 6A; Record: 3-4, 0-2 Region 7; Next game: vs. Cordova, Oct. 8
Bartlett had a difficult Week 7, losing 39-7 to Pearl Cohn. The Panthers have now lost three straight games, allowing at least 38 points in each game. Last week: No. 11.
