Recipients of Supplemental Security Income checks will get two payments in October instead of the usual one.
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments are typically issued on the first day of the month,
but sometimes they are issued early when the first calendar day falls on a weekend or holiday. With Oct. 1 falling on a Thursday, payments will be issued on the regular schedule, according to the Social Security Administration’s calendar.
Since Nov. 1 falls on a Sunday, the checks for November are scheduled to be distributed on Oct. 30. A comparable schedule occurs in December, when the January check will be issued on Thursday, Dec. 31, since Jan. 1 is New Year’s Day, a federal holiday.

- Oct. 1: SSI payments.
- Oct. 14:Social Security payments for beneficiaries born between the 1st and 10th.
- Oct. 21:Social Security payments for beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th.
- Oct. 28: Social Security payments for beneficiaries born between the 21st and 31st.
- Oct. 30: SSI payments for November.
When will SSI checks be sent early in 2026?
SSI checks will be sent out early for November because the first of the month falls on a weekend.
The first SSI payment of the year is sent on New Year's Eve when it falls on a weekday because New Year's Day is a federal holiday.
