Memphis just can’t get enough of Leanne Morgan.
The Southern standup comic, Netflix sitcom star and actress is coming to the Orpheum for a run of performances this weekend as part of her “The Time of Our Lives Tour."
In June, Morgan announced a show at the historic Downtown Memphis theater. Officials with the Orpheum said overwhelming demand meant that one planned Morgan concert quickly turned into five dates
at the venue.Morgan is set to start her run at the Orpheum with a show on Aug. 21, and then will follow with two shows daily, an afternoon performance and a nighttime set, on Aug. 22 and 23.
Here’s what to know ahead of the shows.
Southern comedy star
A native of Adams, Tennessee,
Morgan is the creator and star of the hit Netflix sitcom “Leanne.” For about 25 years, Morgan worked consistently in comedy clubs, at corporate events and fundraisers, careful not to be away from her kids for too long.
“I really just got on stage anywhere I could, my darling, so that I could raise these three children in Knoxville, Tennessee,” Morgan told USA TODAY in an interview in 2025. “It got to a point where I thought, ‘I'm not happy, and this is not going the way I want it to, and maybe I should stop.’ But … I just always kept thinking, ‘Oh, I’ve got to keep going.’”
Morgan’s career has exploded in recent years with a run of popular comedy specials, film appearances and a bestselling book, “What in the World?! A Southern Woman's Guide to Laughing at Life's Unexpected Curveballs and Beautiful Blessings.”
In her 2023 Netflix standup “I’m Every Woman,” Morgan delivered sharp quips about aging, tending to her “little mama and daddy” and life with her “anal-retentive, overachiever” husband, Chuck Morgan. The success of that special, paired with interest from the King Midas of comedies, Chuck Lorre, resulted in the standup’s very own 16-episode, half-hour Netflix sitcom.
In 2025, Netflix revealed that Morgan’s “I’m Every Woman” was the streamer’s most-watched special globally from a female comic. Since then Morgan has released another popular special, “Unspeakable Things.”
