The Educational Oversight Board of Memphis-Shelby County Schools will meet Oct. 8, according to an agenda available online.
The meeting comes a few days after a federal judge signaled he would allow the board to begin its takeover of Memphis-Shelby County Schools once the board indicated it was "ready" to begin its work.
In a court order filed Oct. 5, U.S. Judge Waverly Crenshaw directed the oversight board to file a statement under oath by Billy Orgel, the chairman of the oversight board, when the body is "ready, willing, and able to perform its duties."
As of Wednesday shortly after 2 p.m., a statement had not been filed in court.
The board is scheduled to discuss staffing, the budget approval process, and the forensic audit of the MSCS school
system among other items, according to the agenda.
The oversight board, made up of nine members appointed by state officials will meet at 2 p.m. on Thursday at 312 Rosa Parks Avenue in Nashville. The meeting will also be available to attend virtually.
MSCS and the Tennessee Attorney General's Office have not yet provided comment on the latest order from the court.
