For the price of a high-end jet ski or a minor kitchen remodel, you could send your kid to this suburban private school, one of the most expensive in Tennessee, for a year.
St. George's Independent School, located at 1880 Wolf River Blvd. in Collierville, costs $25,900 for one year of tuition, according to Private School Review, an online platform that tracks private schools by tuition costs.
The Episcopal co-ed school holds about 1,000 students from preschool to 12th grade, and has an average class size of 15 students.
The school has 155 teachers, giving it a student-teacher ratio of 6-to-1, nearly half the national average of 11-1. And 69% of faculty hold advanced degrees. The average ACT score at St. George's is 31 out of 36, and the college
acceptance rate is 100%. The school also offers 22 Advanced Placement courses.
St. George's Gryphons can choose from 15 sports, including water polo, cheer and tennis, and 13 extracurriculars, including chess club, hiking and French.
The institution ranks among the top 20% of private schools in Tennessee for highest average ACT score, largest student body, and most sports offered, according to Private School Review.
