Determined to contest annexations by Southaven and the village of Memphis, Horn Lake now finds itself embroiled in four land squabbles. "Four too many," said Horn Lake Mayor Mike Thomas. "But this is what we felt was necessary to do to aggressively pursue our city's needs." The city is bracing to pay between $30,000 and $50,000 for all four battles, Thomas said.

A familiar craft will float into Memphis today when the Kate Adams, for many years pride of the Mississippi River, pulls into her docks down on the water front. The Kate left Paducah last night. The old Kate Adams is coming back to stay. She will begin on Oct. 6 to make regular runs out of Memphis, probably south as far as Vicksburg.
