Outgoing Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris is taking on a new teaching role at the University of Mississippi.
Harris, whose second term ends Sept. 1, will start teaching contracts, business associations and mergers and acquisitions as a tenured law professor at Ole Miss this fall, according to a press release from the university.
Harris taught at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law for 13 years before he was elected as mayor. He was previously a faculty member at George Washington School of Law, Yale Law School and Grenoble Ecole de Management in France, and authored two textbooks about business law.
He also practiced law in the private sector with Baker Donelson in Memphis.
Harris holds an undergraduate degree from Morehouse
College and a law degree from Yale Law School.
