Two Memphis private schools are among the most expensive in the state, according to a review of tuition costs.
Tennessee has the 21st highest average tuition cost in the United States at $13,436, according to Private School Review, an online platform that tracks private schools by tuition costs.
The average cost for a private elementary school in Tennessee is $13,514 per year and the average for a private high school is $14,571 per year, but both Memphis schools that made the list cost nearly double that.
Unlike public and charter schools, these institutions are not funded or operated by the government. However, Tennessee does have two school voucher programs that provide taxpayer funds for famlies to offset the cost of private education.
