The season opener is also former Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr's first game against Memphis. He was traded by the Grizzlies to the Jazz ahead of last season's trade deadline, but he missed the Grizzlies vs. Jazz games after that with an injury. Jackson got a loud ovation when he was announced with the Jazz starters pregame.
“That’s my brother,” Jackson said pregame. “So,
yeah.”
The video went through Clarke's career with the Grizzlies, including his standout performance in the playoff series win over the Timberwolves in 2022. It also highlighted his work in the Memphis community, and the Grizzlies held a moment of silence after the video.
