Opening games of the 2026 TSSAA football season have featured blowouts as well as tight contests. And now we debut the Commercial Appeal's Super 15 Football Rankings list for the Memphis Area.
Germantown and Whitehaven bounced back in Week 2 after losing to begin the season, while Briarcrest, Munford and others have strung together consecutive wins out of the gate.
But Southwind has made a statement through the first two weeks with wins to sit atop our first rankings.
Memphis area Super 15 Football Rankings
1. Southwind
Classification: 6A; Record 2-0; Next game: at Houston Sept 4.
Auburn commit Khamoni Williams scored three touchdowns in Southwind’s 63-0 win over Ridgeway. They’ll face Houston in a marquee matchup on Friday.
2. Briarcrest
Classification: Division II-AA; Record 2-0; Next
game: at Ensworth Sept 4.
Briarcrest has coasted through its first two games of the year, but the Saints travel to Nashville to face an Ensworth team that knocked off Whitehaven in Week 1.

3. Munford
Classification: 5A; Record 2-0; Next game: Woodford County (KY) Sept 11.
The Cougars have mauled their first two opponents, winning 58-0 against Memphis Business Academy and Millington Central. They have an off week in Week 3.
4. Whitehaven
Classification: 6A; Record: 1-1; Next game: vs Fairley Sept. 4
Whitehaven bounced back after its Week 1 loss to Ensworth by putting 43 points on Houston in Week 2. The ground game was on display and Dandy Dozen selection Malik Dean scored a touchdown at wide receiver while showing off his two-way ability at defensive back.
5. Houston
Classification: 6A; Record 1-1; Next game: vs Southwind Sept 4.
Despite falling short in Week 2 against Whitehaven, Houston featured seven players in the area top performers including quarterback Cannon Day who had 164 yards and two touchdowns in the air while rushing for another two TDs.
6. Collierville
Classification: 6A; Record 0-2; Next game: vs Horn Lake (MS) Sept 4.
Collierville’s first two opponents featured some of the most high-profile teams around. East Nashville came in at No.18 in the latest Nashville area Super 25 rankings, while their Week two opponent, Oxford, featured at No.2 in statewide Super 25 rankings in Mississippi.
7. Christian Brothers
Classification: Division II-AAA; Record: 2-0; Next game: vs Lausanne Sept 4.
Quarterback Nate Brick threw for 109 yards, while Carter Pugh recorded seven solo tackles in CBHS’ 19-7 win against White Station.
8. Germantown
Classification: 6A; Record 1-1; Next game: vs Sheffield Sept 4.
Germantown struggled in a 40-6 loss at Houston in Week 1 but bounced back to defeat Bartlett on the road. Friday will be its first home game of the season.
9. Lake Cormorant (Mississippi)
Classification: 6A; Record 1-0; Next game vs DeSoto Central Sept 4.
Lake Cormorant put together a solid season-opening win over PURE Academy. It'll face DeSoto Central in an exciting Mississippi clash. Curtis Shields was 8-of-10 passing for 108 yards and a TD, while rushing for 96 yards and 12 carries and two touchdowns in a 27-8 victory over PURE Academy.
10. Bartlett
Classification: 6A; Record 1-1; Next game: at Melrose Sept 4.
Bartlett knocked off MUS to start the season but fell short to Germantown 20-13. Despite the loss, quarterback Caden Wade produced two touchdowns, a 17-yard pass and an 11-yard rush.
11. Lausanne
Classification: Division II-AA; Record 0-1; Next game: at Christian Brothers Sept 4.
The Lynx opens the season with three road games against formidable opposition. Still, when players like Missouri commit wide receiver Lawrence Britt are on the team, they’ll pose a challenge to anyone.
12. Memphis Central
Classification: 5A; Record 2-0; Next game: at White Station Sept 4.
Central has yet to give up a point in two games; they’ve been consistent on both ends of the ball, scoring at least 40 points in each game against Melrose and Bolton.
13. MUS
Classification: Division II-AAA; Record 1-1; Next game: vs Kirby Sept 3.
The Owls continue their three-game home stand to start the season against Kirby. Quarterbacks Cullen Hayden and Dhilan Madasu have split time throughout two games.
14. MASE
Classification: 2A; Record 0-2; Next game: at Trezevant Sept 3.
MASE has faced a difficult start to the season, falling short to Senatobia (MS) 21-8, but some of the state’s top talent suits up for them, including Dandy Dozen selection and Ole Miss commit, Jamarkus Pittman.
15. DeSoto Central (Mississippi)
Classification: 7A; Record 1-0; Next game: at Lake Cormorant Sept 4.
The Jaguars got by in a narrow 26-25 win over South Panola to begin the season. They needed a 15-point fourth quarter to get them over the line.
