Two-time Memphis Grizzlies All-Star Ja Morant will make his return to FedExForum on Feb. 6, when the Portland Trail Blazers visit Memphis. It will be Morant’s first time playing in Memphis since he was traded June 29.
Morant was traded to Portland for forwards Jerami Grant and Kris Murray after spending seven seasons with the Grizzlies.
The Feb. 6 matchup between the Grizzlies and Trail Blazers will be televised on Prime Video.
Morant is one of the biggest stars in Grizzlies franchise history. In seven seasons, he led them to two No. 2 seeds in the Western Conference and a playoff series win in 2022 after being selected No. 2 overall in the 2019 NBA Draft.
His most notable individual accomplishments include winning Rookie of the
Year in 2019 and NBA Most Improved Player in 2022 after averaging 27.4 points per game.
Morant holds the Grizzlies’ franchise records for career scoring average (22.4 points per game), triple-doubles (12) and usage percentage (30.4%).
Beyond his flair on the court, Morant will be remembered for the national attention he brought to the Grizzlies as a star player with a highlight-reel style of play and signature shoe.
Jaren Jackson Jr.'s return
Morant isn’t the only former Grizzlies star with a notable return to Memphis this season. Jaren Jackson Jr. and the Utah Jazz will open the season in Memphis on Oct. 21.
Jackson was traded from the Grizzlies to the Jazz on Feb. 3 last season. He missed Utah’s next game in Memphis because of an injury, so the season opener will be his first opportunity to play against his former teammates.
