The Memphis Grizzlieswill be back in Nashville for NBA preseason training camp in 2026.
The team will practice at Belmont University from Sept. 29-Oct. 2 ahead of the 2026-27 season. Memphis will have its open practice at FedExForum on Oct. 4 before opening preseason action on the road against the Atlanta Hawks on Oct. 5.
This is the third consecutive year the Grizzlies will have preseason camp in Nashville. The team was at The Ensworth School in 2024 while FedExForum was undergoing renovations, then the Grizzlies came back to Nashville again in 2025 at Belmont University.
Practices are not open for fans.
Other NBA teams have also joined the Grizzlies in Nashville in recent years. The New Orleans Pelicans practiced at Belmont in 2024, and the Atlanta
Hawks will hold camp at Vanderbilt basketball's practice facility from Sept. 29-Oct. 2.
Nashville and the Grizzlies have been intertwined through headlines this year. NBA superstar LeBron James notably suggested that the Grizzlies should move to Nashville. While James did have some NBA players who agreed that Memphis isn't their favorite city to play in, others defended the city and their experience.
NBA commissioner Adam Silver shut down the idea of the Grizzlies moving in April, but he did say that he would "like to see" the team play some games in Nashville moving forward.
“Obviously, Nashville is a city on the rise," Silver said on the. Pardon My Take Podcast. "There are incredible things happening there. If it were up to me, I would like to see (the Grizzlies) play a few games a year in Nashville and sort of be Tennessee’s team, to the extent that they can. Memphis has been a great market historically for the NBA, and there is amazing history in that city and amazing culture. It’s a big country. So, as I look out at our 30 teams, we want teams to be able to do well everywhere. We have a revenue sharing system, etc. But, from my standpoint, there’s no reason why the Memphis Grizzlies can’t be successful.”
