September is often the biggest month of the year for Apple's new product releases, and this year will be no different, with its annual keynote event coming soon.
Apple has not released any information about what it will reveal at the event. But expectations are growing for the debut of the first foldable iPhone, along with the introduction of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max smartphones.
Apple may not release the foldable iPhone at the same time as its new iPhone 18 phones, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has suggested, as reported by MacRumors and CNET. Kuo estimated the cost of the foldable iPhone, thought to be called iPhone Ultra, at $2,300 to $2,500, in a post on social media platform X in July.
The event will also be the first product event for new CEO
John Ternus, the current senior vice president of hardware engineering, who will take over for Tim Cook as of Sept. 1.
When is the next Apple event? Is it confirmed?
Apple has announced the date of its next big event, set for Sept. 9, at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT.
The tech event, which has the tagline "Surprise and shine," will be held at the Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park in Cupertino, California, and will be streamed on Apple.com.
Anyone can usually watch the event on Apple.com, the Apple TV app or its YouTube channel.
When is the iPhone 18 rumored to be released? When is Apple's next event?
Apple has not yet announced a release date for the iPhone 18. However, it may not be released until 2027.
It is widely rumored that September's usual presentation will focus solely on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, as well as a brand-new type of phone. The regular iPhone model would instead arrive in stores sometime in early 2027, according to Mashable, CNET and MacRumors.
What is the iPhone 18 Ultra?
Recent leaks suggest that Apple is finally entering the market with its first-ever foldable phone, rumored to be named the "iPhone Ultra."
According to Mashable, the exact design of the phone is not yet known, but it is rumored to have a wider design compared to the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Motorola Fold. Based on various rumors and leaks, predictions suggest that the iPhone Ultra could resemble something like this:
- Displays: 7.8-inch inner OLED display, 5.5-inch outer OLED display
- Thickness: 9.5mm folded, 4.5mm when unfolded
- Security: Touch ID
- Processor: A20 processor
- Cameras: Dual rear cameras (48MP), dual inner/outer front cameras
- Price: $2,399
- Battery: At least 5,088 mAh
