The Memphis Grizzlies and DAZN, the team's new streaming partner, announced a deal on Oct. 2 to simulcast 15 regular season games with ABC24, Memphis' TEGNA-owned local ABC affiliate.
This deal will allow fans to 15 regular season games free over the air without a DAZN subscription. The first game will take place on Oct. 23 when the Grizzlies play Golden State Warriors.
A total of eight games through Dec. 23 have been announced. The remaining seven will be announced at a later date.
“Partnering with Tegna and DAZN allows us to deliver on our commitment to expanding access to Grizzlies fans across the Mid-South,” Grizzlies president Jason Wexler said in a statement. “By simulcasting 15 regular season games over-the-air on ABC24 and on the DAZN app,
we are offering our fan base the largest slate of over-the-air local broadcasts since the team arrived in Memphis in 2001. We appreciate TEGNA and DAZN working alongside us to ensure Grizzlies basketball reaches as many fans as possible this season.”
TEGNA and the Grizzlies are hoping to engage additional ABC-affiliated stations throughout Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas and Kentucky. Those details will also be announced when finalized.
This deal comes after the Grizzlies announced in September that DAZN would be the new streaming home for local games.Fans outside of the local broadcast footprint will still need access to NBA League Pass.
Memphis opens preseason action on Oct. 5 against the Atlanta Hawks. The Grizzlies' first regular season game will take place at home against the Utah Jazz on Oct. 21 (7 p.m., DAZN).
