A rebuilding Memphis Grizzlies roster is looking to make a strong first impression during the 2026-27 season. One way to do that is by making some changes to thesingle-season record book.
The Grizzlies are long shots to compete for a championship this season. When that’s the case, finding wins within the struggles can help get through the long days. Those wins can come through individual player achievements and awards.
Single-seasonfranchise records are another way to celebrate at FedExForum this season.
Some records are firmly safe. Ja Morant’s 26.2 points per game is unlikely to be challenged by this young group. Mike Bibby’s 8.4 assists per game over 82 games in a season also could be out of reach for this year’s Grizzlies.
However, there are
some single-season individual records that could be in play.
Here are three single-season franchise records that have a chance to be broken this season.
Mike Miller’s 3-point percentage
Cam Spencer is one of the most accurate 3-point shooters in the NBA, and that’s unlikely to change. Spencer arrived in the NBA with a strong shooting profile and has maintained it.
Through two seasons, he is shooting 43.8% from 3-point range. His numbers improved in his second season, when he shot 44.9% from beyond the arc.
Spencer’s 2025-26 3-point percentage was the third-highest in franchise history. Luke Kennard shot 45% in 2023-24, while Mike Miller holds the franchise record at 45.9% in 2013-14.
Spencer already isn’t far off, and he should be surrounded by better talent than he had for much of last season. Screens from a healthy Zach Edey should help create space, while rookie Cam Boozer should command attention and has the playmaking ability to make teams pay.
Shooting 46% from 3-point range is a difficult task, but it’s one Spencer is capable of achieving.
Jonas Valanciunas' rebounds per game
The total rebounds record may be out of reach for Edey. Even though he is expected to be ready for the start of the season, the Grizzlies could monitor his minutes and games played.
Zach Randolph played 81 games and averaged 37.7 minutes when he hauled in a franchise-record 950 rebounds in 2009-10.
Those numbers are unlikely for Edey, but Jonas Valanciunas’ rebounding average could be a more reasonable target. Valanciunas holds the franchise record at 12.5 rebounds per game.
That is still a gaudy number to reach, but Edey is already one of the NBA’s best rebounders when healthy. Last season, he averaged 11.1 rebounds in 11 games.
Edey left one of those games early in the first quarter with a head injury and had only one rebound before leaving.
Taking into account the 10 games Edey finished, he averaged 12.1 rebounds. With a strong third season and continued improvement, that puts him within range of challenging Valanciunas’ record.
Desmond Bane's 3-pointers made
Ty Jerome gave Grizzlies fans a small glimpse of what he can bring to the table last season. In 15 games, Jerome averaged 19.7 points and made 2.8 3-pointers per game in 22.6 minutes.
With Ja Morant gone, there is a void at starting point guard, and Jerome is a strong option to fill it. Considering the production he put up in limited minutes, the 3-pointers-made totals are within reach.
Desmond Bane’s total 3-pointers made during the 2021-22 season may be harder to achieve. Bane made three 3-pointers per game and played 76 games that season.
Both Bane’s total of 228 made 3-pointers and his 3s made per game are franchise records. Jerome made 2.8 3-pointers in fewer than 23 minutes of action per game.
If he can maintain a similar pace while playing closer to 30 minutes, Jerome could have a chance to take down Bane’s record for 3-pointers made per game — and potentially make a run at the single-season total.
