People looking to improve their golf game could have a place to go to at the growing mixed-use development The Lake District in Lakeland.
A commercial alteration permit was filed Sept. 11 with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development for Back Nine Golf at 4846 Village Lane in Lakeland. The permit is for a tenant build-out for Back Nine Golf to occupy a 2,161-square-foot space in Suite A105 at Lakeland Town Square. The estimated cost of renovations for the space is valued at $190,000, according to the permit.
The Utah-based Back Nine Golf was founded in November 2020 by CEO Wil Bangerter. Back Nine Golf is known as a 24/7 indoor facility and franchise that uses high-tech simulators to allow people to play virtual rounds
of golf at any time.
Back Nine Golf features includes members using a smartphone app or digital access code to enter the facility and can use their reserved bay at any hour. In addition, bays feature full swing simulators that track shot data, swing mechanics and ball flight as well as players can choose to play virtually from world-famous courses like Pebble Beach and St. Andrews.
Back Nine Golf has more than 240 open and operating locations. It has 14 Tennessee locations, including an indoor golf simulator at 3660 Houston Levee Rd., Suite 101, Collierville. Back Nine Golf also have another Memphis area indoor golf simulator at 6601 Snowden Ln., Southaven, Miss.
The $100 million Lakeland Town Square is located at U.S. 70 and Seed Tick Road. The development includes both residential and commercial spaces. A commercial permit was filed June 3 with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development for Town Square Nutrition at 4846 Village Market Lane at Lakeland Town Square.
